August 12, 2008 -- Delegates adopted resolutions Tuesday that will increase per capita effective September 1, 2008, by 62 cents per member per month, plus an additional eighth of a cent.
The largest per capita item is Resolution 1, which adjusts the IAFF budget for inflation at a cost of 44 cents. Resolution 20, which adds staff to the IAFF Fire and EMS Department and Geographical Information Systems (GIS) services, adds eight cents, and Resolution 4, which modifies the principal officers’ retirement benefit, adds seven cents.
Resolution 24, which establishes an initiative for pension protection, adds two cents and Resolution 22, which establishes Burn Foundation District Coordinators, adds one cent.
Once cent of per capita equals $30,000, bringing the total value of the resolutions passed to $1,863,750.
In addition to the 62 cents, Resolution 1 also calls for a per capita increase on September 1, 2009, to adjust the IAFF budget for inflation based on the Consumer Price Index, to a maximum CPI amount of 4.5 percent.
Resolution 21, which offsets costs associated with the United Unions Building in Washington, DC, adds 10 cents effective September 1, 2009.
